James Jimmy Frazier Obituary 2023 Ray Funeral Home

Publish date: 2024-05-10

James “Jimmy” Frazier, a farmer from Rosedale, MS, left an indelible mark on the agricultural community. Visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 25, 2023, at Ray Funeral Home in Cleveland, MS.  A Memorial Service will immediately follow at 11:00.  Born on Dec 7, 1949 in Mississippi, Jimmy dedicated his life to the profession he loved-farming. His recent passing on November 17, 2023 in Rosedale has deeply saddened all who knew and loved him.

Jimmy attended Benoit High School and Moorehead-Mississippi Delta Community College before proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army. In 1970 Jimmy completed U.S. Army Paratrooper Training at Ft. Benning, GA. Upon completion of “jump school” Jimmy was permanently stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina where he proudly served as a Military Police Officer as a member of the U.S.  Army’s historic 82nd Airborne Division.

Jimmy was widely respected for his  lifelong commitment to farming, a calling that resonated with him from a young age and became his life’s work and passion. Beyond farming, Jimmy cherished his friends and family, to include his fur terriers, Joy and PupPup, who were often riding with Jimmy in his red Ford pick-up truck.  Jimmy will probably be best remembered for his amazing garden each year. He was always so proud to share his fresh garden tomatoes with family and friends around town-who might typically find a bag of Jimmy’s ripe tomatoes hanging from their door.

Jimmy had an enormous sense of humor, which was unmatched. The highlight of his day was always teasing his friends and family, especially his wife of over 50 years, Kaffey. He was a devoted father to his two sons Jim “Buck” (Shelia) and Jay (Brandi). He absolutely adored his four grandsons-Brian Frazier, Brett Frazier, Daniel Frazier and Cooper Frazier-who will miss their “Pa Jim” immensely.

Jimmy is preceded in death by his father, John Burke Frazier and his mother, Dell Thornton Frazier.

Jimmy is survived by three brothers Johnny Frazier of Port Gibson, MS; DeWitt (Brend) Frazier of Virginia; and Randy (Ellen) Frazier of Arab, AL and a host of nieces and nephews.

In honoring the memory of Jimmy, we will celebrate a life well-lived and with gratitude for all he did for us. A proud Veteran, passionate farmer, loving husband, adoring father and grandfather and a great friend-Jimmy will be so missed.
