Booker T Clarifies Recent Remarks, Denies Allegations He Was Body Shaming Adam Cole
During a recent episode of the Hall Of Fame podcast, seemingly took some shots at All Elite Wrestling’s Adam Cole, saying he needed to bulk up and gain some size.
Booker initially explained that he thought Cole needed to put on some weight and muscle because it could aid him from recovery from injuries, or at least potentially prevent him from getting injured to begin with. Social media accused Booker of body shaming Cole but since then, the WWE Hall of Famer has clarified his opinion on the matter and said that’s not the case at all.
“I like Adam Cole,” Booker T said during the latest episode of his podcast. “I think it would be too far to call us fans, but I’m a fan of Adam Cole. I think Adam Cole and I are tight, I think him and his wife, Britt Baker, I think her I… we’re tight, and I think people are just trying to make something out of nothing. People want to make it look like I’m hating on an AEW guy, and I’m not.”
Booker T went on to say that if he didn’t really like Cole, he would be saying much more than just noting that he should be gaining muscle.
“You know, if I didn’t like Adam Cole, I wouldn’t be saying ‘Man, we need to get some muscle on him,’ I’d be saying a whole lot worse than that, I think,” said Booker T. “You know what I mean? Opposed to trying to advocate for how we can make Adam Cole look better, I think I would be saying a lot worse if I was trying to down Adam Cole.”
Later in the conversation, Booker T blamed various “clickbait” stories on people making it out like he was trying to criticize Cole. However, Booker T noted his past experience with the superstar in the independent circuit as an example.
“Adam Cole’s a good dude,” Booker T said. “He’s a cool dude, and I want to see him do better. I was on with Adam Cole when he was on the independent circuit, telling Adam Cole ‘Hey man, don’t even worry about getting to the next level, as far as WWE, they’re going to call sooner or later.’ Then when I finally saw him in one of the locker rooms at one of the shows, he came up to me and I go ‘Didn’t I tell ya?’ Because he’s talent, you know what I mean? People don’t get behind Adam Cole because he’s the builtest guy in the locker room.
“They don’t follow behind Adam Cole and do all of his stuff when he comes out because he’s Bautista and has that kind of size. He’s a talened son of a gun more than anything, and to get people to do that, you got to be talented. So my thing is this, I’m going to enhance Adam Cole more than anything, I’m not going to try to break him down. And anybody that thinks I’m trying to break Adam Cole down, you’re wrong.”
